Tree ring print. 18x24 inches. Made by hand, not machine printed.
This is one of my favorite prints. It is printed from a cut of wood from an old growth pine that had fallen in Millcreek Canyon, just east of Salt Lake City in Utah.
This print shows the resilience of the tree. You can clearly see how the original branch had grown and died and a secondary growth had continued to grow and envelope the dead portion.
As an artist, my purpose is to reveal the artistry that exists in nature and to present it in a way that is accessible enough to hang on a wall in your home. I also want to bring our attention to our impact on the landscapes that surround us. These tree ring prints help us see our place in a much larger historical context and hopefully each ring makes us reflect on the limited time that we have in this beautiful landscape.
All prints are made by hand using the traditional woodblock method.

I messaged Erik asking his suggestions on prints that would fit in a 12"x12" frame that I had made. He responded immediately with a bunch of different prints he assured me would fit, and they were all amazing it was difficult to choose! But eventually I did and it was promptly sent and packaged thoughtfully, which was awesome since prints are delicate and the USPS can be not so delicate. Erik was so pleasant and I'm so happy! I'll be posting a photo as soon as I make a back for the frame!

Very beautiful! The ink is textured, but I hadn't anticipated how small the tree rings were. They were on a very large paper and it seems a little off place. I might have my framing people trim it down but I would hate to change it so permanently. Still beautiful!!
